DataArt History

DataArt was founded in 1997 by Eugene Goland and a group of software developers of Russian origin in New York City. The first development center was opened in St. Petersburg, Russia the same year. DataArt is a U.S. legal entity and Eugene Goland is still its president and majority stakeholder.

The company’s focus has always been on servicing technology needs of the U.S. clients. However, after bouncing back from the dot com crash, DataArt turned to European markets, and in 2001 engaged Peter Atalla as CEO of DataArt UK. In 2005 DataArt has launched its first industry practice, Financial Services, and was named one of the top emerging outsourcing providers by Business Week and International Association of Outsourcing Professionals.

DataArt UK has grown by leaps and bounds, bringing in close to a quarter of the company’s overall annual revenue. In 2006 DataArt opened its second development center in Russia, in the city of Voronezh, and in 2007 two more R&D centers, in Kharkiv and Kherson, both in Ukraine. DataArt clinched Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status and was again named one of the world’s top outsourcing providers by IAOP and Global Services 100.

In 2009 DataArt launched Travel & Hospitality Practice, with Healthcare and Mobile Solutions practices established in 2010. The same year DataArt opened two new offices, a European Headquarters in Kyiv, Ukraine, and a management office in Zug, Switzerland. Dmitry Bagrov became head of DataArt UK, and the office moved to City Tower in London.

DataArt is currently 650 people strong, with eight locations worldwide. The company has been twice named to Inc. 5000 List of fastest growing private companies and remains on the list of top 100 global providers by leading industry’s associations.
